Tying in with our work of producing audio programmes and films for the professional development directorate of the College of Optometrists (DOCET), we have recently launched an iOS app that gives the 11,500 optometrists in the UK instant access to the quarterly training programme archive, allows them to answer questions and earn CPD points on-the-go, and facilitates feedback to the College.
The umpteenth Spring bank holiday is approaching, which means it's almost time for the IAI's philosophy and music festival, How The Light Gets In. Taking place between 26th May and 5th June in Hay-on-Wye, its theme is New Gods: Icons and Ideas in a Changed World. Open CC have been in charge of the festival's online presence - including the development of IAITV, about which we are very excited.
We have been working with Hodder Education on Practise Every Question - an interactive revision resource for use by teachers in the classroom - since last year. We worked closely with the client to develop a bespoke CMS, and with real users to develop an intuitive front end interface. Everyone is delighted with the end result, and have had some fantastic feedback already! Long may it continue.
Much of our work is web-related - from strategy and marketing to web design - but video is another big part of what we do. We have just completed 'My Moves' for HemiHelp, a charity for families of children with hemiplegia. The DVD demonstrates a series of physio exercises which alleviate hemiplegia's effects - while also providing advice, information (and fun!) to children and their families.
This weekend Crunch 2010 took place in Hay-on-Wye. Organised by the IAI, Crunch is a festival of talks, debates and performances centred on the question, "What's the point of art?" Open CC delivered all the festival's marketing content - including print materials, the website & ticketing system, and the digital video workflow, hosting and distribution on behalf of IAITV.
An Open CC project at the Whitechapel Gallery is now up and running. We've used QR technology to deliver supplementary material without cluttering the walls of the Gallery. A QR code within Claire Barclay's exhibition for the Bloomberg Commission allows visitors to access a mobile microsite with text, images and video by scanning the code using a QR reader on their mobile phones. The scheme runs until April.
